Requirements
Health
- Rabies vaccine for all dogs over 6 months old.
- Current on Parvovirus and Distemper vaccines for all adult classes
- At least 2 boosters of Parvovirus and Distemper vaccines for puppies
- Bordetella vaccine
- Negative fecal test results from within 90 days of checking for parasites such as worms, giardia, coccidia, etc.
- Lepto and Influenza vaccines are recommended, speak with your vet about your dog’s risk.
All dogs and puppies that are new to your home must be in your home for one week prior to starting school with us.
We require reviewing vaccinations and fecal test results in house before completing your enrollment. You may submit them to us by clicking the green button below to get started.
Safety
Keep your dog on a short leash and keep your attention on your dog. Do not allow your dog to greet other dogs or people.
Registration
Use the link above to submit all of the health requirements mentioned above. Registration can begin after you have submitted appropriate vaccines for your dog’s age and results of a fecal test from your vet submitted to and approved by us. If approved we will send a link for sign-up and an invoice to pay online.
Payment, Refunds, and Cancellations
Payment is required at time of enrollment. We accept credit cards, personal checks and cash. We also can email an invoice to be paid online.
Refunds There are no refunds. Scheduling conflicts or illness will not receive a refund. We have high enrollment and are holding your spot on your assigned days. Make your decision to start carefully and commit when you know you can attend all your scheduled training.
Attendance
If you must miss a day, please contact the office right away. Attendance is expected at all scheduled appointments.
Declines and Referrals
If the trainer feels your dog’s behavior is dangerous, disruptive, or not safe in any manner, you will be asked to switch to a more appropriate training program to address your dog’s needs.
School Closures
We may adjust our schedule occasionally for trainer education days. These dates are scheduled far in advance. You will still receive all your sessions if a we skip a date during your enrollment.
Policies
Unaltered Animals
Dogs do not need to be spayed or neutered to attend our school. If your dog goes into heat during school she must stay home for ~4 weeks.
Aversive Equipment
We utilize reward-based training methods and aversive equipment has no place in our programs. Do not bring your dog in with a pinch/prong collar, choke chain, or shock/e-collar. If you attend school with one of these devices on your dog, you will be asked to swap it out for a front attach harness, martingale, or head halter in order to stay a part of class. Do not sign up if you are unwilling to use humane equipment. Our methods aim at being humane, effective, pain free, and enjoyable for you and your dog.
Children in Sessions
We encourage the whole family to attend our lessons. Please review our guidelines:
- Your child must be able to follow instructions remain attentive during one on one sessions.
- If your child has a hard time focusing consider providing an activity to occupy him or her.
What to Bring
Dog
- Be sure to give your dog a chance to go to the bathroom. A nice walk before school is okay, but don’t tire your dog out too much.
- Training dogs will bring a meal, ask your trainer if you are unsure.
Equipment
- A basic 4 or 6 foot leash. No flexi/retractable, chain, or bungee leashes.
- Flat collar.
- Humane no pull walking equipment such as a front attachment harness or head halter is optional. We do sell these in the lobby and a trainer may recommend one if you and your dog would benefit from using one to obtain loose leash walking.
At this time we are not accepting any other personal items
School Location
All our classes are held at our training facility in Los Angeles. We have a 1,500 sq ft air conditioned and heated training room that has a recycled rubber flooring for you and your dog’s comfort. Occasional parts of school may be outside. There is a parking lot to accommodate students and street parking is available too.
